The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old church member, Tahamado Jonathan Demian, in connection with the kidnapping of two Catholic priests, Rev. Fr. Abraham Samman and Rev. Fr. Matthew David Dusami. The priests, from the Catholic Dioceses of Yola and Jalingo, were rescued unharmed during a police operation at a criminal hideout in Gwaida Malam village.

According to the police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the coordinated rescue operation, which began on February 21, 2025, in various criminal hideouts, led to the capture of Demian. The priests are currently receiving medical care after being freed without any ransom being paid.

During the investigation, authorities recovered a locally fabricated assault rifle, as well as mobile phones and SIM cards. The suspect, Demian, remains in custody as investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the government, other security agencies, and the public.
