Gunmen have killed Alhaji Idris Abubakar Sakaina, the leader of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in Kwara State. The attack took place around 10:00 pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025, in front of his residence in Oke Ose, Ilorin.
A source revealed that the assailants shot him dead and left him in a pool of blood without taking anything from him, raising questions about their motive.
A witness, Aina’u Sarki, told Daily Trust, “I was with him 20 minutes before he was killed. I later received a call informing me that he had been shot dead.”
Muhammed Abdullahi, the Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Inter-Community Relations (Fulani), confirmed the incident, stating, “Yes, he was killed in front of his residence on Saturday night. The gunmen left him for dead.” He added that preparations for Sakaina’s janaza were underway and that police had already begun their investigation.
The deceased, aged 32, was a former Special Assistant to the Moro Local Government Chairman and a Youth Leader for the Fulanis in Kwara.
