Troops from Operation Fansan Yanma have successfully neutralized the notorious bandit kingpin, Yusuf Gwamna, during a fierce confrontation in the Dutsin-Ma area of Katsina State. According to intelligence sources, reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama on March 10, 2025, several other terrorists were also eliminated during the operation.
Gwamna had long been a high-profile criminal, responsible for numerous attacks, kidnappings, and violent crimes across Katsina and neighboring states. His reign of terror instilled widespread fear in local communities, making his death a significant victory in the fight against banditry.
In a similar operation, troops in Zamfara State have eliminated another notorious bandit leader known as ‘Yellow Aboki,’ a close associate of the late terror kingpin, Hassan Bamamu. Security sources confirmed that Yellow Aboki was killed in a recent encounter with Operation Fansan Yanma troops in the northwest part of Tsafe LGA.
His death follows the military’s successful operation that led to the elimination of Hassan Dantawaye, also known as Bamamu, a feared bandit commander and one of Yellow Aboki’s closest allies. It was reported that following Bamamu’s death, Yellow Aboki had been consolidating his power over criminal activities in Zamfara. He had been operating in areas like Bamamu, Dan Mali, Agamalafiya, and Makera, where he coordinated violent attacks and kidnappings.
The military continues its focused crackdown on bandit kingpins in known hideouts across Zamfara, Sokoto, and other troubled regions in the Northwest. This sustained pressure has significantly weakened the bandits’ ability to confront troops, forcing them to resort to sporadic attacks on vulnerable communities with limited security presence.
Very good.
