Former Fulham and Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been hospitalized due to a ‘rapid heartbeat caused by physical stress,’ according to reports from Saudi Arabia.
The 30-year-old Serbian international, who now plays for Al-Hilal, was forced to miss training after experiencing the heart rate issue linked to physical exertion.
Mitrovic’s condition is being closely monitored by his club, and he is now uncertain for Tuesday’s AFC Champions League match against Uzbek side Pakhtakor.
After being admitted to the hospital early Sunday morning, Mitrovic has been instructed to take ‘complete rest.’
“Due to fatigue and arrhythmias, the medical team decided to rest Aleksandar Mitrovic from Sunday’s training,” said Al-Hilal in a statement. “He will be closely observed by specialists, and his condition will be continually monitored.”
Mitrovic made a high-profile move to Al-Hilal in the summer of 2023 and quickly became a sensation, scoring an impressive 40 goals during his debut season.
