Ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated a high-level strategic committee to lead its campaign planning and other preparatory activities.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Dr. Obumneme Nnoli, said the move is part of the party’s proactive efforts to ensure a well-organized and inclusive campaign.
The decision to establish the committee was made during the PDP Elders Committee meeting held on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
According to the statement, “The State Chairman, Chidi Chidebe, on behalf of the State Executive Committee, has approved the formation of a joint strategic committee comprising members of the Elders Committee and the State Executive Committee.”
The committee is tasked with deepening stakeholder engagement, strengthening grassroots mobilization, and coordinating consultations ahead of the campaign season. Its mandate includes developing an actionable framework for member engagement and formulating a detailed, grassroots-focused campaign plan.
Leading the committee is Chief Clems Ezika, SAN, a respected legal expert and party elder. Other members include Mrs. Chinwe Onuora, Chief Ebere Onunkwo, Chief Francis Udeoba, and Princess Ebere Nwankwo, while Sir Chigozie Igwe will serve as Secretary.
The committee’s terms of reference include:

Identifying immediate, grassroots-focused programs and engagement activities

Preparing a detailed, actionable budget for the campaign strategy

Recommending timelines and implementation dates for proposed activities
The committee is expected to submit its full report by May 14, 2025.
Reaffirming its commitment to strategic leadership and people-centered governance, the PDP described the committee’s formation as a vital step in advancing the party’s readiness for the 2025 election and meeting the expectations of Ndi Anambra.
