In a statement released after the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting on Wednesday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka described the primary as fair, credible, and transparent. The party called on all stakeholders, particularly other aspirants and their supporters, to unite and work together to ensure the party’s success in the election.

The statement read, in part: “The National Working Committee of the All-Progressives Congress, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, reviewed and approved the report of the Party’s Anambra State Governorship Primary Election. The Primary Election Committee, chaired by the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Bassey Otu, declared Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu the winner with 1,455 votes.”

At the NWC meeting, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje praised the Primary Election Committee, led by Governor Bassey Otu, for organizing a fair and transparent election. Dr. Ganduje also presented the APC Certificate of Return to Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and urged all stakeholders, especially other aspirants and their supporters, to work for the party’s victory in the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election.

It is worth noting that Ukachukwu was declared the APC candidate for the Anambra governorship race on Sunday after securing the party’s ticket. The election results, announced by Senator Bassey Otu, Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, showed a decisive victory for Ukachukwu, who received 1,455 votes. His closest competitor, Valentine Ozigbo, garnered 67 votes, while Johnbosco Onunkwo received 26 votes, and Edozie Madu earned eight votes. There were also 26 invalid votes cast during the primary, which began on Saturday.

Following the election, Valentine Ozigbo, a recent defector from the Labour Party to APC, lodged a complaint with the party’s Appeals Committee, alleging irregularities and describing the primary as a “fraud and charade.”
