APC’s Okpebholo wins Edo Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo winner of Saturday’s Edo State Governorship Election.

Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, officially announced Okpebholo winner of the election.

This is as the results from all 18 Local Government Areas of the state showed that the Okpebholo won eleven LGAs to defeat the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, Asue Ighodalo and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party.

Okpebholo garnered 291,667 votes to beat Ighodalo and Akpata with 247,274 and 18,737 votes, respectively.

Okpebholo will take over from the outgoing Godwin Obaseki at the Osadebe House in Edo State.

In his remarks after his victory, the governor-elect, Okpebholo said he would continue from where the former Governor, Adams Oshiomole stopped.
