Former Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo was robbed in broad daylight in Barcelona. The Brazilian, currently on loan at Girona from Juventus after a brief stint with Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, was shopping in the city when the incident occurred.
According to Marca, Melo was paying for his parking ticket at around 4pm on Passeig de Gracia when an individual on a motorbike stole his luxury watch and sped off. Two people are reported to have been involved in the robbery, but Melo was unharmed and immediately reported the incident to the police.
Melo returned to training on Friday as usual and is expected to play for Girona in their upcoming match against Alaves on Saturday.
This isn’t the first time the 28-year-old has been targeted. In 2019, burglars broke into his home and threatened his brother with a weapon. The robbery occurred during Barcelona’s 3-0 Champions League semi-final win over Liverpool, and the thieves made off with valuables, including a Rolex watch. Melo’s brother, who arrived home later that evening, was unharmed after being forced to open a safe.
