Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of abusing women during his time as governor of Akwa Ibom. Atiku made this statement following the sexual harassment allegations brought against Akpabio by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In a recent interview with journalist Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie on the program Untold Stories, Atiku was asked about reports of corruption involving Akpabio during his tenure as governor. In response, he said, “Yes. Not only was he corrupt, but he also had a history of abusing women.”
Regarding the 2027 elections, Atiku was asked if he would run for president again and who would lead a coalition to challenge the current government. He replied, “In 2014, we had a similar merger, with several candidates running for president. One emerged, and we all supported him. Nigeria has never been in greater need of credible leadership than now.”
When questioned about the swift approval of a state of emergency by the National Assembly, Atiku stated, “No, I’m not surprised. The leadership is corrupt, and I make no apologies for saying that. They could do anything. The Senate President is known for such behavior, even as a governor.”
