The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, in collaboration with the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, has announced that polio vaccinations for all intending pilgrims will commence on Monday, April 28, 2025.
Speaking at a press briefing on Saturday, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Abdulrahman Ibrahim, stated that vaccinations will be administered at primary healthcare centers in all local government areas of the state, starting at 10 a.m.
He emphasized that the vaccination is mandatory as per the requirements of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj Affairs, and that all pilgrims must be vaccinated before traveling to the Kingdom.
“The Saudi authorities require every pilgrim to receive the polio vaccine before entering the holy land. We will ensure full compliance,” Ibrahim said.
The effort, reported by PUNCH, is part of a broader initiative to safeguard the health of Bauchi State’s pilgrims during their pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
Pilgrims are urged to visit their local government primary healthcare centers on Monday to receive the vaccine. Special arrangements will be made for women undergoing pregnancy tests.
The Board assured the public of its commitment to a smooth vaccination process, working in close coordination with healthcare agencies across the state.
“This exercise reflects the state government’s dedication to protecting the health and safety of its citizens,” the Board Chairman added.
