Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment and Chloe Bailey Face $15 Million Copyright Lawsuit

Artist Melvin Moore, professionally known as 4Rest, has filed a lawsuit against Parkwood Entertainment, alleging unauthorized use of his work in several songs by Chloe Bailey, an artist signed to the label.

The lawsuit, filed in New York, accuses Parkwood Entertainment of fraudulent misrepresentation, violations of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), civil conspiracy, and deceptive business practices.

Moore, a Grammy-nominated artist, claims he contributed significant original lyrics, melodies, and creative direction to tracks on Bailey’s album “Trouble in Paradise,” released in August.

The songs in question include “Favorite,” “Might as Well,” and “Same Lingerie,” which Moore alleges were released without his knowledge or consent.

He further asserts that Bailey promoted “Same Lingerie” on her Instagram account, disregarding a DMCA Violation and Cease and Desist notice he had issued.

Moore is seeking punitive damages of $5 million per song, statutory damages of up to $150,000 per infringement, and additional damages for willful copyright infringement and fraudulent misrepresentation.

The lawsuit also names Columbia Records, Sony Music Entertainment, and other entities as defendants, alleging they misappropriated his contributions and exploited them commercially without authorization. Sources indicate that Beyoncé, founder of Parkwood Entertainment, is displeased with the situation, viewing the lawsuit as detrimental to all parties involved.
