Multiple bomb devices were reportedly discovered inside a Tesla showroom in Austin, Texas, on Monday morning amid ongoing threats targeting CEO Elon Musk. According to Mail Online, the Austin Police Department received a call just after 8 a.m. from an anonymous tipster, alerting them to the presence of bombs in the building.
Authorities quickly responded and found several “suspicious devices” at the Tesla dealership. The Austin Police Department Bomb Squad was called in to assist, and the devices—designed to cause large-scale explosive violence—were safely taken into custody, the department confirmed.
The identity of those responsible and the timing of the placement of the devices remain unclear, with no arrests made as of now. Police are investigating the incident, which comes amid a troubling surge of attacks on Teslas, including vandalism and fires, in recent weeks.
In response to the escalating violence, former President Donald Trump, who purchased a Cybertruck earlier this month, labeled the attacks on Tesla as “domestic terrorism.” The attacks are believed to be linked to Musk’s role in President Trump’s administration, where he leads the Department of Government Efficiency. Musk has earned criticism for slashing federal spending and cutting government jobs across the country.
Musk has previously spoken out about an alleged conspiracy to assassinate him and destroy Tesla. In an interview with Fox News, Musk told Sean Hannity that his efforts to eliminate government waste and fraud have made him a target. “It turns out when you take away people’s money that they’re receiving fraudulently, they get very upset,” Musk said. “They basically want to kill me because I’m stopping their fraud, and they want to hurt Tesla because we’re stopping the terrible waste and corruption in the government.”
