Borussia Dortmund Sack Nuri Sahin After Seven Months in Charge

German football club Borussia Dortmund has parted ways with manager Nuri Sahin after just seven months in charge.

The former Dortmund and Real Madrid midfielder’s tenure came to an end following a 2-1 loss to Bologna on Tuesday night. Reports from Sky Germany and Bild confirm that Sahin was dismissed later that evening, with players and staff informed of the decision at the team’s hotel.

In an official statement, sporting director Lars Ricken expressed regret over the decision:
“We value Nuri Sahin and his work very much. We had hoped for a long-term collaboration and believed in a sporting turnaround. However, after four consecutive defeats, with only one win in the last nine games, and being tenth in the Bundesliga table, we have lost faith in achieving our goals under the current setup. This decision was painful but unavoidable after the match in Bologna.”
