British rapper Nathan Tokosi, known as DigDat, has been found guilty of attempted murder following a drive-by shooting in Notting Hill. The 25-year-old, from Deptford, south-east London, was in a stolen Audi when at least six shots were fired at 27-year-old Daniel Offei-Ntow, who was in a separate car on November 20, 2023.
Offei-Ntow was struck in the head, mouth, and body, but prosecutors said he was “lucky not to die.” The shooting was captured on CCTV, showing the shooter firing directly at Offei-Ntow’s head. Tokosi, who gained recognition with his hit single Air Force, showed no emotion as the verdict was delivered.
The jury unanimously convicted Tokosi of attempted murder, as well as possession of a self-loading pistol and ammunition with intent to endanger life, and possession of a prohibited firearm. The court heard that Tokosi was one of at least two people in the stolen Audi, which pulled up alongside Offei-Ntow’s car and fired multiple shots.
The victim was found by police at his flat, severely injured and in shock. Officers later discovered a latex glove and a black bag containing a firearm and ammunition near where the Audi was abandoned. Investigations revealed Tokosi had made multiple trips from his father’s home in Deptford to Notting Hill in a BMW, linking him to the shooting.
DNA evidence linked Tokosi and another artist, Kamal Benjamin (aka Wesson), to the Audi. However, further evidence suggested Benjamin had been in Dubai at the time of the shooting.
Sentencing for Tokosi has been postponed, with a date yet to be determined.
