Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, has stated that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate in the 2023 presidential election, is still struggling to move on from his “painful defeat.” In a post on his X page on Wednesday, Bwala criticized Obi’s comments, saying they lacked facts and logical analysis.
Bwala’s remarks came in response to Obi’s interview with Arise TV on Tuesday, where Obi made sarcastic remarks while evaluating President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Bwala said that Nigeria “dodged a bullet” by not electing Obi as president in 2023.
“As I listen to Peter Obi struggling to play the role of the opposition, I can’t help but be concerned by his poor delivery,” Bwala wrote. “He spoke without facts or logical analysis, almost like a clanging cymbal or a sounding brass.”
Bwala added that Obi has still not recovered from the defeat, noting that the former candidate seemed lost in a “banana republic of fantasy” and unsure how to convince his followers about his potential role in the 2027 opposition race. “Nigeria dodged a bullet,” Bwala concluded.
