Celestial Church Pastor Arrested Over Disappearance Of LASU Graduate

Superintendent Evangelist Whepetoji Babaniyeh, a Lagos-based pastor of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of 28-year-old Ogunbode Quadri Adedamola.

Quadri, a Political Science Education graduate from Lagos State University (LASU), was last seen on January 16, 2025, near the Ileri Oluwa Parish of the CCC, where Babaniyeh serves as the head cleric. According to a family source, he was on a phone call with his girlfriend when someone from inside the church reportedly called him in.

As investigations progressed, police allegedly discovered that N1.5 million had been transferred from Quadri’s account to Babaniyeh’s account on the day he went missing. Additional transactions were reportedly traced to the pastor’s child.

While a YouTuber claimed that police uncovered Quadri’s remains within the church compound, the victim’s family refuted these reports, stating that his whereabouts remain unknown.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, has denied any official report of the incident. Investigations are ongoing.
