On March 19, constituents from the Kogi Central senatorial district in Kogi State initiated a recall process against their senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, citing a lack of confidence in her representation and dissatisfaction with her performance in the Senate.

This move comes just weeks after Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment.

The recall process is set to take place over two days across all polling units in the five local government areas of Kogi Central. During the process, constituents will sign a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) requesting the senator’s recall.

INEC will then verify the signatures to ensure they are from registered voters within the district before moving forward with the recall procedure. Signature collection is taking place simultaneously across the four local government areas of Okehi, Okene, Ajaokuta, and Ogori/Magongo.
