A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has dismissed a motion for joinder in an appeal filed by sacked executives of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) seeking a reversal of a judgment that nullified their election.
The PDP Executives are challenging the judgment, delivered on January 13, 2025, by Justice Stephen Jumbo, sacking the state, local government, and ward executives of the PDP led by Chukwuemeka Aaron.
The suit was filed by William Fialasoika and 24 others against the PDP, challenging the validity of the party’s state congresses.
The court ruled in favour of the plaintiffs, nullifying the congresses and sacking the PDP executives.
Chukwuemeka Aaron, Oye Fubara Igenewari, and Thankgod Beke, who represented the sacked state, local government, and ward executives, respectively, filed a motion seeking leave to appeal the judgment as interested parties.
However, Justice Stephen Jumbo dismissed the motion, citing the PDP’s prior appeal against the judgment.
