Court Sentences Two Young Men To Six Months Imprisonment For Theft In Ogun State

A Magistrate’s Court in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, has sentenced two young men to six months in prison for separate theft offences. The convictions were announced on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, by the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogbonnaya Dyke.

Adebanjo Segun, 21, was sentenced after being arrested on February 19, 2025, for stealing a hen. Investigations revealed that he had committed a similar crime in December 2024 but had been pardoned. Following his guilty plea, Segun was convicted under Section 430 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State.

In a related case, Kazeem Tobi, 20, was sentenced after being apprehended on February 4, 2025, for attempting to sell a stolen Elepaq generator valued at approximately N120,000. Tobi was charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and possession of stolen property. He too pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six months in prison.

Both men were convicted under the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State and are now serving their sentences at the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Ijebu-Ode.
