Cristina Kirchner Faces US Travel Ban After Corruption Allegations

The United States has imposed a ban on Cristina Kirchner, former President of Argentina, and her former planning minister Julio Miguel De Vido, accusing them of involvement in corruption.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the two individuals received millions of dollars in kickbacks from public works contracts during Kirchner’s presidency from 2007 to 2016. Kirchner, who has been sentenced to six years in prison for corruption in Argentina, is appealing the verdict.

In a statement, Rubio explained that Kirchner (CFK), De Vido, and their close relatives were designated under US law for being credibly involved in “significant corruption,” which made them and their families ineligible for entry into the United States.

Despite her legal battles, Kirchner remains politically active, continuing to seek elected office in Argentina’s Peronist opposition and serving as a vocal opponent to President Javier Milei, a right-wing populist aligned with US President Donald Trump.
