C’River Assembly Grants Two-Week Leave Extension For Governor

The Cross River State House of Assembly has approved a two-week extension of leave for Governor Bassey Otu following his formal request. The decision was unanimously agreed upon by the members during a plenary session on Friday. In the governor’s absence, Deputy Governor Peter Odey will continue in an acting capacity.

Speaker Elvert Ayambem assured that the House remains committed to transparency, good governance, and the welfare of the citizens of Cross River State. He stated, “Our resolutions today are made in the best interest of Cross Riverians. We must support our Governor as he takes this time to recharge and continue leading the state forward.”

Ayambem further emphasized the importance of supporting the governor to maintain fairness in local governance and affirmed that the Assembly would always stand for justice and accountability. He reassured the public that the Assembly would continue to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities without bias or influence.
