Dangote Refinery Lowers Fuel Price Again

Dangote Refinery reduces fuel price, again.

Dangote Refinery has once again lowered the cost of fuel. This latest price reduction comes after the fuel landing cost dropped to N774.82 per litre, below Dangote Refinery’s ex-depot price of N825 per litre. However, unlike the price drop on February 26, 2025, the refinery did not officially announce this new reduction.

The move comes amid the ongoing price competition between the NNPC and Dangote, two key players in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector. Chinedu Ukadike, spokesperson for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, confirmed the price drop.

“It’s true. There is speculation that the price of imported products has dropped, which is fueling the price war. This is the advantage of deregulation. Dangote has millions of litres and wouldn’t want external forces to take its market share, so it would have pushed for the price reduction,” Ukadike said.

It remains unclear whether Dangote’s latest fuel price cut will result in retail price reductions at its filling stations, such as MRS, which currently sells petrol for N860 per litre in Lagos and N880 per litre in Abuja.
