Delta Airlines Confirms Passenger Recoveries as Investigation Continues into Toronto Crash

Delta Airlines announced on Tuesday that 19 out of the 21 passengers hospitalized on Monday after a plane crash in Toronto have been released. Officials continue to investigate the cause of the crash, which left the regional jet flipped over upon landing.

Canada’s Transportation Safety Board (TSB) is leading the probe to determine why the CRJ900 aircraft, operated by Delta Airlines’ Endeavor Air subsidiary, overturned on Monday at Toronto’s Pearson Airport. The exact cause of the accident involving Flight DL4819 from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport remains unclear.

The 16-year-old CRJ900, manufactured by Bombardier and powered by GE Aerospace engines, can accommodate up to 90 passengers. Post-incident footage revealed that at least one of the aircraft’s wings had detached.

Toronto Pearson Airport had been experiencing high winds and freezing temperatures on Monday, following a snowstorm that dumped over 22 cm of snow, further complicating airline operations.
