A crowd of People’s Democratic party PDP members of Ughelli-North/Ughelli -South and Udu Federal Constituency at the weekend gathered at Ughelli and strategized to retake the Federal Constituency from the All Progressive Congress.
The event took place at Oharisi Primary school in the Ughelli metropolis with the attendance of the Deputy Governor of Delta State Sir, Monday Onyeme, Rt.Hon Emomotimi Guwor, Speaker Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Author Akpowowo, Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Sen. Ighoyota Amori, Chief Adviser to Governor Oborevwori, Hon Solomon Arenyeka , Chairman PDP Delta State and Solomon Igbrakpata, Chairman of the Board of Internal Revenue.
Some of the Prominent PDP stalwarts from the Ughelli North/ Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency present at accasion were Sen Chief Emmanuel E Awhariawodo , Senior Political Adviser to Governor Sherrif Oborevwori, Chief John Oguma, Chief Patrick Egonor, Chief Fred Majemite, Hon Festus Ovie Agas, former Secretary to the State Government , Hon Solomon Awhinawhin, Hon Samuel Mariere Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB and many others.
Chief Solomon Arenyeka, the State Chairman of the PDP, speaking at the gathering expressed joy of the formation of Ughelli North/ Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency PDP Forum stating that the party aims to reclaim the Federal Constituency in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Arenyeka charged the people to work hard and re-inspired resilient of strenght , unity and ensure that all candidates from PDP in the area get their mandate on the poles to show the party’s dominance in the Federal Constituency while thanking the people for standing behind Governor Sherrif Oborevwori as he continues his good works in transforming the entire state into a construction site .
For Sir Monday Onyeme , deputy Governor he said, “Delta is a very peaceful state and since 1999 we were the first to embrace governorship rotation and it has been working very well for us. All previous Governors did eight years and this time around, and nobody can disorganized this our gentleman arrangements.
Continuing he said Governor Oborevwori is working with Julius Berger and other reputable construction companies to develop the state and I can assure you that more projects will be executed across the state.
On his part, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, the success of the ocassion is an is a proof of unity and solidarity in PDP, adding that Governor Oborevwori would be re-elected in 2027 with the support of Deltans.
According to him, “What we have done today is to show that the Federal Constituency stands united to return Governor Oborevwori to Government House in 2027. We are all united and I can assure you that PDP will win the entire eight local government areas in Delta Central.”
The ceremony also witnessed over 2000 defectors mainly members of the Delta Political Actualisation Network (DPAN), a strong supporters of the former deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege were led by Mr. Fejiro Ishaka from Ughelli Urban, alongside Alex Idu and his supporters from Orogun who were warmly received by the State PDP Chairman Chief Solomon Arenyeka.
