On Friday, February 21, 2025, a tragic accident occurred at Kara Under Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulting in the death of pedestrian Auwalu Abdulkadir.
The incident involved a Kia commercial bus (registration number LAGOS MUS 200 YE) traveling against traffic when one of its tyres detached and struck Abdulkadir, a truck driver from Kano State, who died instantly at the scene.
The driver of the Kia bus fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. Police have towed the bus for further inspection and are actively seeking the runaway driver.
The Ogun State Police Command has urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations and ensure proper vehicle maintenance to prevent such tragic incidents.
