Sean “Diddy” Combs has filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Courtney Burgess, his lawyer Ariel Mitchell, and Nexstar Media, the parent company of NewsNation. The lawsuit was submitted on January 22 in a New York federal court and accuses the defendants of fabricating and spreading damaging lies about the music mogul.
Burgess alleged during public appearances that he possessed flash drives containing videos of Diddy engaging in inappropriate sexual acts, including against minors and celebrities. According to Combs’ legal team, there is no evidence to support these claims, and the accusations are baseless.
“Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is taking a stand against the malicious falsehoods fabricated and amplified by individuals seeking to profit at his expense,” stated Erica Wolff, Combs’ attorney.
The lawsuit further alleges that the defendants’ actions have tainted public perception and compromised the fairness of any future legal proceedings.
Burgess claimed to have obtained 11 flash drives from Diddy’s late ex-girlfriend, Kim Porter, which allegedly contained videos of “freak offs.” Combs’ legal team firmly denies the existence of such footage and calls the allegations “false and defamatory.”
The ongoing scandal has caused significant reputational damage to the rapper, who remains behind bars facing sex trafficking and racketeering charges. His trial is set for May 5. Despite over two dozen civil lawsuits accusing him of sexual misconduct spanning decades, Diddy continues to assert his innocence.
