The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four individuals, including a medical doctor, a pharmacist, and two others, in connection with the murder of 20-year-old security guard, Polmi Dauda.
In a statement released on Sunday, March 23, Bauchi Police spokesperson CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil confirmed that investigations revealed Dauda died from severe injuries sustained during an altercation with the suspects near Larema Hotel, where he worked. The altercation is believed to have stemmed from an accusation of theft against the deceased.
“The Bauchi State Police Command is thoroughly investigating the tragic death of Polmi Dauda, which is being treated as a potential case of culpable homicide,” the statement read.
On March 22, 2025, the victim’s brother, Mr. Danda Dauda, reported the incident to the Bauchi Metro Area Command. The case was then referred to the E Divisional Police Headquarters Yelwa for further investigation.
Mr. Dauda reported that his brother had sustained serious injuries after a confrontation with several individuals near Larema Hotel. Despite the efforts of medical personnel at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Dauda was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Initial investigations suggest the altercation may have been triggered by an allegation of theft involving clothing and personal items belonging to a tenant. The suspects involved in the incident—identified as Ibrahim Yahaya, a pharmacist at ATBUTH; Musa Awwal, a medical doctor at ATBUTH; Imrana Ibrahim, a local businessman; and Zakariya’u Isah, another security guard—are believed to have conspired to confront Dauda, resulting in his death.
The suspects have been taken into custody, and the police are continuing their investigation. The deceased’s body has been sent for a postmortem examination at the ATBUTH mortuary.
The Commissioner of Police has instructed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to thoroughly analyze the case. The Commissioner is committed to ensuring justice is served and urges the public to remain calm and law-abiding during the investigation.
