Grammy Award-winning rapper Doechii has been named Billboard’s 2025 Woman of the Year, the publication revealed on Monday, March 10. She will be honored at an event later this month.
A rising star in the rap world, Doechii has gained massive popularity with her viral tracks “No Scrubs” and “Denial is a River,” the latter of which reached No. 21 on the Hot 100. In January, she won her first Grammy for Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal, making history as only the third woman ever to win the honor. She also received nominations for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance. During the same Grammy night, she delivered an unforgettable debut performance of “Denial is a River” and “Catfish.”
The Tampa-native has charted five songs on the Billboard Hot 100, including “Balloon” and “ExtraL,” collaborations with Tyler, the Creator and Jennie.
Doechii was previously honored by Billboard in 2023 as their Music Rising Star, and she becomes only the third woman to earn the prestigious Women of the Year accolade, joining the ranks of Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande. Billboard’s editor-in-chief, Hannah Karp, praised Doechii for her “ultra-candid lyrics” and “utterly unique sound, style, and spirit.”
Other past recipients of the Women of the Year honor include SZA, Billie Eilish, Madonna, and Taylor Swift.
At the Billboard 2025 Women in Music event, where Doechii will be celebrated, other awards will also be presented. Jennie will receive the Songwriter of the Year award, Erykah Badu will take home the Breakthrough Award, and Meghan Trainor will be honored as this year’s Hitmaker. Performers include Ángela Aguilar, aespa, GloRilla, Gracie Abrams, Megan Moroney, Muni Long, and Tyla.
