Donald Trump Hints At Seeking A Third Term As US President

US President Donald Trump has hinted he might seek a third term in the White House, despite the Constitution’s 22nd Amendment limiting presidents to two terms.

In a phone call with NBC News on Sunday, Trump said, “I’m not joking” about the possibility of running for a third term. He mentioned that many of his supporters have expressed interest in him continuing in office, but added, “We have a long way to go, it’s very early in the administration.”

When asked if he wanted another term, Trump responded, “I like working,” while emphasizing that it was too soon to think about it. He also acknowledged the possibility of methods that could allow him to pursue a third term, though he didn’t elaborate further.

In response to a question about Vice President JD Vance potentially running for office and then passing the role to Trump, he confirmed that “that’s one” method, but declined to offer others.

Amending the Constitution to remove the two-term limit would be a challenging process, requiring a two-thirds vote in Congress or agreement from two-thirds of states to call a constitutional convention, followed by ratification from three-quarters of states.

Trump pointed to his strong poll numbers, suggesting that “a lot of people would like me to” seek a third term. While these remarks have been seen by some as jokes or attempts to provoke his critics, Trump’s comments add fuel to speculation about his political future.
