Donald Trump has officially been inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, marking his unprecedented return to the White House for a second term. This follows his first tenure as the 45th president, serving from 2017 to 2021.
Due to chilly weather, the swearing-in ceremony was held inside the Capitol Rotunda. Trump took the oath of office on Abraham Lincoln’s historic Bible, administered by Chief Justice John Roberts.
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,” Trump declared during the ceremony.
Preceding Trump’s oath, Vice President J.D. Vance also took his oath of office. Vance, who previously represented Ohio in the U.S. Senate from 2023 to 2025, now steps into the role of the nation’s second-highest leader.
The event drew several prominent attendees, including the world’s wealthiest individuals—Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Sundar Pichai—further highlighting the significance of the occasion.
