The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has sent a technical team to Guinea to support the country’s transition back to constitutional rule.
This was announced in a statement on Monday by ECOWAS Commission President, Dr. Omar Touray. The mission reflects ECOWAS’s ongoing commitment to promoting political stability and democracy in the region.
The delegation is led by Ambassador Abdel-Fatau Musah, ECOWAS Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security. The team visited Guinea’s capital, Conakry, and held meetings with local authorities on April 10 and 11.
Talks focused on the implementation of a 10-point agreement previously signed by ECOWAS and the Guinean government. The agreement outlines a roadmap for Guinea’s return to democratic governance.
Ambassador Musah reaffirmed ECOWAS’s support for Guinea’s transition process and emphasized the importance of adhering to the agreed timeline.
