The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has deployed 1,045 officers and personnel ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations to ensure law and order, provide surveillance, and protect critical national, state, and local government assets.
State Commandant, Maku Olatunde, issued an operational order instructing various NSCDC units, including Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Tactical Squads, to mobilize assets and increase security efforts before, during, and after the festivities.
A statement from the command’s Head of Media and Tactical Ops, Okadigbo Edwin, highlighted that round-the-clock surveillance would be conducted at black spots, flashpoints, and other vulnerable areas to ensure a peaceful celebration.
Specialized units such as the armed squad, anti-vandalism team, and counter-terrorism unit will be deployed to monitor public spaces, including Eid grounds, social centers, amusement parks, and critical infrastructure.
Olatunde emphasized that officers should act professionally, respect citizens’ rights, and remain vigilant. He urged residents to stay alert, supervise their children, cooperate with security agencies, and report suspicious activities.
The State Commandant also extended Eid-el-Fitr greetings to Muslims and reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to working with other security agencies to prevent criminal activities during the celebration.
