Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, labeling it as the “worst and most corrupt” in Nigeria’s history.
Speaking to journalists in Katsina State on Monday, April 14, el-Rufai accused the current government of being the most intolerant since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999.
“This is the worst federal government Nigeria has ever had. Every indicator shows it. It’s the most corrupt, the most intolerant, and the most dishonest, relying heavily on false propaganda,” he said.
El-Rufai also alleged that the federal government is misleading the public about the security situation in the country.
“They claim security has improved, listing bandits they’ve supposedly killed — except the real ones we know. In Kaduna, Dogo Gide is still active. Mallam Abba, a known Boko Haram figure, is still alive. Bello Turji hasn’t been apprehended. Yet, the government keeps releasing names of so-called bandit leaders they’ve eliminated,” he added.
He emphasized that insecurity continues to plague parts of Nigeria due to the government’s failure to tackle the root causes of violence.
“In Katsina, how many local governments are under bandit control? What about Zamfara and parts of Sokoto? Just because you’re in power doesn’t mean these problems will vanish,” el-Rufai warned.
