Tesla CEO Elon Musk has temporarily suspended deliveries of the highly anticipated Cybertruck following significant safety issues. Reports reveal that metal trim pieces, particularly along the roof of the vehicle, have detached at high speeds, posing a potential hazard to other road users.
Customers took to social media platforms like X and the Cybertruck Owners Club website, sharing that Tesla representatives informed them of the suspension for further inspection.
This isn’t the first time the Cybertruck has faced quality control issues; Tesla had previously recalled thousands of units over similar problems with panels falling off while driving. However, the current issue has yet to be fully resolved, particularly concerning the “cantrail” trim, which runs from the front to the back of the roof.
In complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Cybertruck owners described the trim piece as a dangerous hazard, with one report claiming it detached after just one year of use, creating a serious risk of injury to other motorists. Several drivers have posted images showing their exterior panels peeling away, highlighting ongoing concerns about the vehicle’s safety.
Tesla’s quality control challenges with the Cybertruck continue to raise questions about the vehicle’s readiness for full-scale deliveries.
