Nigeria’s Super Eagles moved up one spot in the latest FIFA men’s ranking, released on Thursday, April 3.

In the first ranking of 2025, the three-time African champions climbed from 44th to 43rd position. However, they dropped one place in Africa, falling out of the top five on the continent.

Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Ivory Coast are the top-ranked teams in Africa.

The Super Eagles played against Rwanda and Zimbabwe last month in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. They won 2-0 against Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali but were held to a 1-1 draw by Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Argentina extended their lead at the top of the global rankings after securing their spot in the 2026 World Cup, while Spain, France, England, and Brazil remained in the top five.
