FIFA has confirmed that the winner of the first edition of the revamped Club World Cup could earn a massive $125 million in prize money. This announcement was made by FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Wednesday.
The total prize pool for the tournament, which will run from June 14 to July 13, is set at $1 billion. FIFA has outlined how the prize money will be distributed among the 32 participating teams.
A portion of the prize money—$525 million—will be shared among all teams simply for participating, while the remaining $475 million will be distributed based on performance. The team that wins all seven matches could walk away with up to $125 million, including additional bonuses.
European clubs will receive the largest share, with each team earning between $12.81 million and $38.19 million, depending on sporting and commercial factors. South American teams will receive $15.21 million each, while teams from North and Central America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa will get $9.55 million each. Auckland City, representing Oceania, will receive $3.58 million.
Infantino described the distribution model as “the biggest prize money ever awarded to a competition with both a group stage and knockout phase.” Additionally, FIFA will implement a unique solidarity program to redistribute an extra $250 million to football worldwide. Infantino emphasized that all tournament revenue will be directed to support club football.
