Fire Guts Two-Storey Building In Onitsha, Anambra

The Anambra State Fire Service is actively responding to a fire outbreak on Ifejika Street, near Sokoto Road, Onitsha.

The fire, which started around 6:20 am in one of the buildings, has spread to a nearby structure. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but residents, passersby, and firefighters are working together to rescue property and goods from the affected buildings.

Chukwudi Chiketa, the head of the Media and Publicity Unit of the Anambra State Fire Service, confirmed the incident in a brief message on Friday. He reassured the public, urging them to remain calm as the firefighters continue their efforts to extinguish the flames.

“Anambra State Fire Service is currently responding to the fire outbreak at Ifejika Street, by Sokoto Road, Onitsha. We received the distress call at 6:20 am today and our firefighters were immediately deployed,” Chiketa said. “The public is advised to stay calm as the situation is under control.”
