A group of fishermen made a shocking discovery while out on a fishing vessel off the coast of Massachusetts. On Wednesday, March 5, the crew was surprised when one of their nets felt unusually heavy and pulled up a mass of fish covering what turned out to be a dead body.
The crew initially didn’t realize there was a body mixed in with the fish until they began sorting through their catch. They quickly reported the discovery to the Coast Guard.
Photos of the body, shared by TMZ, show a person in a suit with a strap around their body, securing their arms at their sides. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office confirmed they are aware of the body but, as of now, has not been able to identify the person’s name, age, or gender.
Regarding whether this is being treated as a potential homicide, the D.A. stated, “No conclusions at this point. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy, which may help provide some answers.”
