Former Delta First Lady, Edna Ibru, Passes Away in London

Mrs. Edna Ibru, the wife of Delta State’s first civilian governor, Chief Felix Ibru, has sadly passed away in London.

The heartbreaking news was announced by her son, Dr. Paul Aidido Ibru, in a public statement. Dr. Ibru revealed that his mother passed on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, after a brief illness. Describing her as a vibrant and spirited woman, he expressed the family’s deep sorrow and shock at her unexpected passing.

“We never expected her to leave us so soon, but we cannot question the will of God in her precious life,” he said.

Dr. Ibru also paid tribute to his mother’s loving and compassionate nature, emphasizing her role as a unifying presence in their lives. “She was a lover of people, a mediator, a mother to many, outrageously humorous, deeply caring, down to earth, full of stories all of the time, and we will miss her very dearly,” he shared.

Mrs. Edna Ibru’s life and legacy are intertwined with that of her late husband, Chief Felix Ibru, whose tenure as Delta State’s first civilian governor left an indelible mark on the state’s history. Together, they remain an enduring part of Delta State’s legacy.
