Four women have drowned in a boat accident that occurred on the River Benue in Taraba State
The incident occurred in the Mayo Ranewo area of Ardo-Kola Local Government Council on Wednesday.
The ill-fated boat, which was reportedly carrying over 30 passengers, set out from Mayo Ranewo and was en route to Belango in Karim-Lamido Local Government Council when the incident happened.
According to eyewitnesses, while the majority of the passengers survived, the four women could not be saved.
The deputy spokesperson of the State Police Command, James Lashen, confirmed the incident on Thursday.
“We are aware of the incident but we are waiting for full details. You will be updated once that is done,” he stated.
