The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano Sector Command, has announced the start of its 2025 Eid-el-Fitr special patrol from Thursday, March 27, to Wednesday, April 2, 2025. This initiative is designed to manage the expected increase in human and vehicle traffic during the Sallah celebrations and ensure a smooth and safe holiday period.
A statement released by the Sector Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Labaran, on Friday evening, outlined the goals of the special operation.
The initiative aims to improve the Corps’ presence on highways throughout Kano by deploying personnel and logistics early to reduce road traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries. The patrol will focus on strict enforcement of road traffic laws, providing prompt rescue and response to distress calls, and quickly clearing any obstructions on the roads.
To support this effort, the sector command has deployed 1,889 personnel, including 1,348 Regular Marshals and 541 Special Marshals. Additionally, five ambulances and service points will be available around the clock for emergency response, while a heavy-duty tow truck will be on standby to clear road obstructions and maintain smooth traffic flow. Traffic control and calming measures will be implemented at all Eid prayer grounds to ensure order and lane discipline.
Mobile Courts have also been set up to address any road traffic offenses.
Sector Commander Masa’udu Matazu has warned against car racing and underage driving during the celebrations. He urged all road users to follow traffic regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable Eid-el-Fitr for everyone.
