A drama unfolded at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex on Wednesday, March 12, when Governor Siminalayi Fubara arrived but was unable to enter as the gates were locked.
According to Channels TV, security personnel at the complex locked the gates when the governor’s convoy arrived. The action was based on the lack of official communication between the governor and the Assembly.
However, Governor Fubara stated that he had informed Speaker Martins Amaewhule of his visit through a letter and attempted to call him on Tuesday.
The governor was expected to present the state budget to the lawmakers, as required by the Supreme Court ruling handed down the previous week.
