The Executive Watchdog, a public accountability and governance advocacy group, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to provide proof of her assassination attempt allegation against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, the group, through its spokesperson Mr. Fedelis Ella, demanded that security agencies arrest Akpoti-Uduaghan if she fails to present evidence within the specified timeframe.
The group condemned the assassination claim as “reckless, baseless, and deeply damaging to democratic integrity.”
Ella also urged Akpabio’s legal team to request the original petition submitted by Akpoti-Uduaghan from the Inspector-General of Police, stressing that such a serious accusation should not be left to public speculation but addressed through legal channels.
He described Akpoti-Uduaghan’s public behavior as a pattern of not just libel, but deliberate subversion, warning that it threatens public trust and the core values of democratic governance.
“This goes beyond criminal defamation; it is a direct challenge to the principle that truth must precede judgment,” Ella stated.
He called for accountability and caution in public discourse, asserting that the integrity of institutions must not be sacrificed for political sensationalism.
Ella emphasized that Akpoti-Uduaghan has yet to provide any tangible evidence to back up her assassination claim. He concluded by reaffirming the group’s commitment to monitor the situation closely and advocate for responsible civic engagement and truth-based leadership.
