Gunmen Attack Mosque in Sokoto, Abduct Imam, Worshippers

Gunmen suspected to be bandits stormed a mosque in Bushe community, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, abducting at least 10 worshippers, including the Imam.

The attack occurred early Thursday morning while worshippers were observing the Subhi prayer. Residents reported that the community has faced persistent attacks despite the presence of security forces.

However, the swift response of security agents, including Nigerian Army troops, helped limit the gunmen’s activities.

Confirming the attack on Friday, Sokoto State Police Command spokesman Ahmed Rufai stated that security forces are working to rescue the kidnapped victims.

A member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly representing the Sabon Birni B Constituency also confirmed the incident and commended security agencies for their intervention.
