Human Rights Activist ‘Revolutionary Alfa’ Dies in Fatal Auto Crash

Human rights activist Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, popularly known as “Revolutionary Alfa,” has died in a tragic motor accident along the Abeokuta-Sagamu road in Ogun State. He was 53 years old.

Sulaiman was reportedly traveling to Ibadan on Tuesday when the vehicle he was in was involved in a fatal crash. Until his passing, he served as the Executive Chairman of the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) and Chairman of the Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEOS).

A dedicated disciple of the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN), Sulaiman was a fearless advocate for justice and human rights. He was actively involved in various organizations, including the Democratic Socialist Movement (DSM), National Conscience Party (NCP), Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), and the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN).

In a statement on Thursday, Pastor Michael Agassi, Assistant General Secretary of CHRSJ, described Sulaiman as a relentless fighter for justice, democracy, and the rights of the downtrodden. He noted that his death is a significant loss to the human rights community, particularly in Southwestern Nigeria.

Sulaiman will be buried according to Islamic rites on Thursday at the Abioye Ruling House in Awo, Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State, after Salat Ashr.

He is survived by two wives and children. Agassi prayed for his soul’s eternal rest and strength for his family, friends, and associates to bear this great loss.
