The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), has once again failed to appear before the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight, despite being formally invited for an interactive session.
Originally scheduled for April 17, 2025, the session was postponed to April 24 at Ibas’s request. However, he was absent once more, even though he was reportedly in Abuja for the National Economic Council meeting at the Presidential Villa.
The session was meant to review key developments in Rivers State since Ibas assumed office. It’s still unclear whether he received or acknowledged the latest invitation, as the committee has not shared any details on communication with him.
Following his no-show, committee chairman Rep. Julius Ihonvbere and other lawmakers left the venue without speaking to the press. When approached, Ihonvbere simply said, “No comment.”
With Ibas’s repeated absence, the committee has now postponed the meeting indefinitely.
