Ikpeazu, Ugwuanyi, Shehu Sani, Reno Omokri Among Those Nominated For Ambassadorial Appointments

Ikpeazu, Ugwuanyi, Shehu Sani, Reno Omokri, others make ambassadors? list

Former governors of Abia and Enugu states, Okezie Ikpeazu and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, alongside Senator Shehu Sani and former presidential aide Reno Omokri, are reportedly among those nominated for ambassadorial appointments by the federal government.

According to Vanguard, they are currently undergoing screening by security agencies, with the official list still pending release. It’s worth noting that Nigeria’s ambassadors were recalled from their postings nearly a year ago, and the lack of replacements has raised concerns about the country’s diplomatic affairs.

While one of the nominees confirmed the appointment on condition of anonymity, attempts to reach others for confirmation were unsuccessful.

Regarding the delay in releasing the names, a Presidency official explained, “The appointed individuals are undergoing security checks with the Department of State Services (DSS). Once they have cleared these checks, the list will be made public. Only those who pass the security screening will be announced. The process is still ongoing, but I expect the list to be released by the end of the month.”
