Denmark head coach Brian Riemer has declared his support for Cristiano Ronaldo in the long-running GOAT debate, stating that he believes the Portuguese star is a better footballer than Lionel Messi.
Speaking ahead of Denmark’s UEFA Nations League quarter-final clash against Portugal, Riemer praised Ronaldo’s enduring quality and impact on the game.
“For me, Cristiano Ronaldo every day! I have always admired this man,” Riemer told O Jogo, emphasizing his preference for the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus forward.
The coach acknowledged that Ronaldo’s playing style has evolved with age but maintained that the 40-year-old remains a major threat on the pitch.
“Cristiano is still one of the most dangerous players you can face. He’s different now, but that doesn’t make him worse—he’s still a great player, and we respect him a lot,” Riemer added.
Denmark will host Portugal in the first leg of their UEFA Nations League quarter-final before traveling to Lisbon for the return fixture on March 23.
