Governor of Kebbi state, Dr Nasir Idris, on Saturday joined global space in marking international women’s day.
Idris, in a statement signed by his special adviser on communication and strategy,Alhaji Abdullahi Idris Zuru, described women as the bedrock of success and peace in every developing nation as their role as mothers, wives and administrators contributed in nation building particularly the states they hailed from.
He said, “Today we celebrate our distinguished women of Kebbi state who did the state proud in politics and civil service, i must mention late Dr Amina Abubakar (PHD) a former and pioneer deputy vice chancellor Kebbi state University of Science and technology for her immense contribution to women and education, we must acknowledge the contribution of Dr Amina Yayha shamaki a former federal permanent secretary and a host of other women who walked the paths of men and succeeded.”
Back home, however, Zainab Nasir Idris and hajia Nafisa Nasir Idris both of them through their humanitarian programmes lifted thousands of poor women out of poverty in Kebbi state therefore their role is critical to the success of governor Idris government in the state ” we commend them and other women of substance for their immeasurable contribution.
The statement added that, Senator Remi Tinubu who is championing the cause of women across the country is particularly celebrated today as a pillar of support to her husband pushing for the rights of women across the country.
