Jay-Z Sues Former Rape Accuser and Lawyer for Malicious Prosecution and Defamation

Rapper Jay-Z files defamation lawsuit against former r@pe accuser, lawyer Tony Buzbee

Legendary rapper Jay-Z is reportedly suing his former rape accuser, referred to in court documents as Jane Doe, and her attorney, Tony Buzbee. The lawsuit, filed in an Alabama court on March 3, accuses them of abuse of process, malicious prosecution, civil conspiracy, and defamation, following a false sexual assault claim.

Jay-Z claims the accuser and Buzbee conspired to falsely accuse him of assault, causing him to lose $20 million. The rapper’s complaint also alleges that Doe admitted Buzbee pressured her to move forward with the false story after an extortion demand failed. Buzbee has denied the claims, calling the lawsuit “without legal merit” and accusing Jay-Z’s investigators of harassment.

In December 2024, Doe, whose identity was concealed, alleged Jay-Z raped her in 2000 at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty when she was 13. Jay-Z has consistently denied the allegations, and her lawsuit was dismissed “with prejudice” in February.
